Looking for that special sound that will make your holiday activities complete? Or are you one of those who has vowed not to get any more holiday music because you already have more than you need, but can't resist new temptations? Here's a roundup of some of the best holiday recordings AMG Classical has encountered this year.
This box set includes all four discs originally released between 1987 and 1995 by Andrew Parrott and the Taverner Consort: Festive Music from Europe and America, Nine Centuries of Seasonal Music, and The Carol Album I: Seven Centuries of Christmas Music, plus its sequel, The Carol Album II: Seven Centuries of Christmas Music. The 66 pieces here mostly come from The New Oxford Book of Carols edited by Parrott and Hugh Keyte, and, as can be seen from the disc titles, they cover all of shape and manner of what might very loosely be termed Christmas carols. There are carols for choir, for soprano, for guitar, for organ, for brass, and for what sounds like a consort of sackbutts; carols from early America by William Billings, from 16th century Venice by Giovanni Gabrieli, from 13th century France, and from a 10th century nunnery by Hildegard von Bingen; carols you've heard all your life, like the traditional God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, and carols you've never heard before in your life, like Anton Webern's Dormi Jesu.
But no matter what, every track on all four discs proves surprising and every performance proves charming-James Leonard A drama film is a film that depends mostly on in-depth character development, interaction, and highly emotional themes. In a good drama film, the audience is able to experience what other characters are feeling and identify with someone.
This genre could be especially useful by challenging the ignorance from stereotypes or any other overly simplistic generalizations by bringing it down to a more personal and complex level. As well, such movies could also be therapeutic by showing how characters cope with their problems, challenges, or issues, and to the extent the viewer can identify with the characters with his or her own world.
Video games :
Video games were first introduced in the 1970s. By the end of that decade they had become a preferred childhood leisure activity, and adults responded with concern about the possible ill effects of the games on children. Early research on these effects was inconclusive. However, a resurgence in video game sales that began in the late 1980s after the introduction of the Nintendo system has renewed interest in examining the effects of video games
